Annotate and analyze the use of rhetoric in the Declaration of Independence.

Use the storyboardthat link to review ethos, pathos, and logos. 
Take Cornell notes on the information included.
Use the examples and your notes to create your own example of 

ETHOS
PATHOS
LOGOS

Each example should be clearly labeled and use THREE cells per example.
Screenshot the comics and include them in your assignments folder.

We will have a gallery walk to observe everyone's examples.
Write down one more example of each.

3.  Reading of the Declaration of Independence

I will give you a hard copy of the Declaration of Independence.
First, read through it with a partner. 
Annotate it with clarifications, questions, examples of rhetoric, structure, etc.

Once you read through it once, we will listen to it together as a class.




Discussion Questions
What language does he use to persuade his audience to his position?
Does he effectively or ineffectively persuade you? Explain.
What is the most convincing evidence to support his claims? Elaborate.
Evaluate how the text is structured.  What is significant about the ordering of ideas? 

4.  Rhetoric Chart

Complete the chart, identifying an example of ethos, pathos, and logos.

Closure:

Using the learning target, evaluate understanding of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Explain your rating.
